Afternoon Tea : Etrop Grange Hotel
It’s my mum’s Birthday tomorrow so I decided to book us an afternoon tea. I took her for one a couple of years back for her birthday along with a spa day but it was so disappointing. When you envision afternoon tea you think of scrumptious finger sandwiches, dainty cakes and of course scones and tea! However that arrived and it was two sandwiches cut in half and a cake each. I didn’t want to let that experience stop me though as I have had some lovely afternoon tea’s in the past. I just decided I would be extra vigilant in my research before I booked.
I came across the Etrop Grange Hotel on Groupon and loved the building instantly. Looking through the reviews it had almost 100% positive so I was keen to take a look. It is situated not too far from Manchester Airport, which happens to only be a 25 minute drive from my house. I booked us a champagne afternoon tea for two and called the hotel to make a booking. As I was planning to go on a Monday I had no issues getting the date I desired and the staff were very friendly on the phone.
Arriving at the hotel the building was just as stunning as the photographs. Although I did imagine it would be situated near a lot of greenery it was just off a main road where they had road works going on (can’t be helped). We entered the building and was seated in a conservatory area after being greeted by a very pleasant gentleman. He asked us what our drink of choice was and headed off. The room itself was bright and clean, just what I imagined. We only waited around 10 minutes for our afternoon tea to arrive and both myself and my mum was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food we received.
My favourite part had to be the selection of miniature cakes and the warm scones that were served with clotted cream and two types of jam. It was all delicious, I really couldn’t fault any of it. We didn’t end up having the champagne as we arrived around 12.30pm and did decide it may have been a little early for alcohol (is it?) However we were offered top ups of our tea and coffee all included in the original price I paid.
Now, for the cost. I found this amazing deal on Groupon and snatched the deal up for just under £15 for the both of us, can you believe that? You honestly don’t expect much for the price but this by far exceeded expectations. This deal is no longer available on Groupon but I would definitely recommend booking direct with the hotel as it is totally worth it. Book direct
